NASHIK: A 22-year-old man was killed by his friends, who were in need of money to buy a multi utility vehicle (MUV) and a bike. The suspects involved in the murder had taken away the sports utility vehicle (SUV) of
the victim, after killing the latter. However, within 72 hours of committing the crime, six of the seven suspects were arrested by the Local Crime Branch of the Nashik rural police.
On Tuesday, the Surgana police got information that a body of a person was lying in a valley in the jungles of Thanpada village in their jurisdiction.
On reaching the spot, the police were informed that the victim was Kalpesh Jairam More, resident of Mothi Ghodi in Surgana taluka. The victim had suffered wounds on his head and back.
On identifying the body, the police reached the victim’s residence, where Jairam More, father of deceased Kalpesh informed that his son’s killers had taken away his SUV as well. The Surgana police and police inspector Kishor Nawale of the Local Crime Branch took guidance from Superintendent of Police Ankush Shinde and began the investigation.
During the course of investigation, the police came to know that victim Kalpesh was in the habit of smoking and drinking and he also frequented Saputara road to buy alcohol. The police reached the liquor shops on Saputara Road and checked the footage of CCTVs installed there.
The police found victim Kalpesh with Gangaram Bagul, Vasant Kadale and Ganesh Chaudhary purchasing liquor together. Assuming that the same people might have killed him, the police detained Gangaram Bagul from Beeval village. The suspect soon confessed that he and six others had killed Kalpesh as he was in need of money to buy a multi utility vehicle (MUV) and a bike.

Bagul told the police that they took Kalpesh in the jungle of Thanpada on the pretext of consuming liquor and after intoxicating him, they killed him with sharp weapons. After killing the victim, the suspects took his SUV in Gujarat for selling it. However, due to the lack of documents of the vehicle, they could not find a customer. The suspects preferred abandoning the SUV in Gujarat and returned home. The suspects did not have money to return home and hence they had to sell their mobile phones.
The police arrested Gangaram Bagul, Vishwas Thorat, Vasant Kadale, Prabhakar Pawar, Ashok Deshmukh and Ganesh Chaudhary. One more person involved in the crime has not been found yet.
