NAGPUR: NMC’s One Time Settlement scheme is getting a good response. As on June 23, the eighth day of the scheme, the civic body saw a turn-out of 1006.
consumers who paid Rs 48,62,897. With this, only four days of the scheme now remains. NMC has appealed to citizens to avail the benefit within time.
It must be mentioned here that taking into consideration the huge arrears and the troubles of the water bill arrear holders, Nagpur Municipal Corporation brought up the convenient scheme where arrear-holders can get rid of the arrears by paying 50% of the actual arrear amount.
The scheme will be valid upto June 30, 2016.
The scheme is applicable to consumers belonging to residential and slum categories and those having arrear amount of more than Rs 2000. Under this scheme, of the total arrear amount mentioned on the consumer bills, 50% amount will have to be paid (excluding delay payment charges). The revised amount will have to be completely paid off during the scheme period.
Since the scheme was launched on June 16, as many as 6,606 consumers have turned up and paid their outstanding water bills. The NMC and OCW have recovered Rs 3.30 crore from the defaulters.
