She also appreciated the Women’s College, MA Road for organising the great event.Addressing the Majlis, Minister for Education, Mr Naeem Akhtar said the Department of Education is beginning a new journey to not only infuse new life into the state’s quiescent academic scenario, but also revive J&K’s cultural treasure.“The space that we have lost and are losing because of the turbulent situation in Kashmir, is to be rediscovered and handed-over to our next generation,” Akhtar said and added that today’s programme is a part of the same effort by the Education Department to educate the young generation about Kashmir’s great intellectual possessions.

The Minister said it was a great day for J&K’s educational sector as a bill introduced in the Assembly for setting up of two new Cluster Universities has been passed by the House. “It is even a bigger day for me personally as Mehbooba Ji got a decisive and reiterated mandate from Anantnag today,” he said and added that today’s mandate will give her the fresh strength to take on the challenges confronting J&K and usher the state and its people into an era of peace and prosperity.

Referring to the secular ethos of Jammu and Kashmir, Akhtar said while the young girl Sunita Bhan is reciting Abdul Ahad Nazim’s Naat in today’s Naat majlis, the heart-touching Naat “Yaa Nabi (SAW) Goush Fariyaadan Thaaw” was for the first time recited by renowned broadcaster Mohan Lal Aima on Radio Kashmir. “We have to revive and enliven that unique culture which was the hallmark of Kashmiriyat,” he said and added that Kashmir had a distinct culture and that culture has to be revived for and preserved for the posterity.  Minister of State for Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Ms Asiea Naqash, Chairperson State Commission for Women, Mrs Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor, Legislator, Ms Anjum Fazili, Principal Women’s College MA Road Srinagar, Prof Shaheen Altaf and large number of teachers and students were present on the occasion.
