Fran Berry is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a fall at Doncaster on Friday.

The Irish jockey was unseated as he pulled up the Alan Bailey-trained Mrs Eve, who suffered a fatal injury entering the straight when contesting the 188Bet.co.uk Handicap.

Berry was taken to the medical room at the racecourse before going to hospital for further assessment and his agent, Tony Hind, does not expect him to make a swift return to action.

Hind said: "I spoke to him last night and he was having a scan on his chest and ribs as he was in quite a bit of pain.

"I'm not sure how long he'll be out for, but I don't think he'll be riding next week and he's banned the week after, so we'll see where we are after that."
