Pondy CM urged to ask Pvt Medical colleges to collect tution fees minus Centac assistance

Puducherry, June 25 (UNI) The Pondicherry Students and Parents Welfare Association today urged Chief Minister V Narayansamy to advise private medical colleges and deemed universities to collect the tution fees from the students selected for MBBS through the Centralized admission committee(Centac) of the government minus the announced Centac assistance of Rs.2.25 lakhs.
In a statement here today, Association President Y Bala said that when students went to the colleges and deemed universities to join after the first counselling, they were asked by the management to pay the full fees for the year. He said since the students who attended the first counselling could not join the course at the end of second counselling following new rules that they should join before June 30. Further, considering the welfare of the economically backward and rural students, the Chief Minister should take immediate steps to advise the colleges accordingly. He also pointed out that private medical colleges and deemed universities had heeded to a request in this regard from the office of the Chief Minster last year.
