Cadila Healthcare CMD Pankaj Patel heads new search panel for IIMA’s Chairman

The search committee is expected to shortlist names of suitable candidates for the post of the IIMA’s Chairman of the BoG(Board of Governors) that has been lying vacant since previous Chairman AM Naik, Group Executive Chairman of engineering giant L&T stepped down in December. After Naik stepped down, Cadila Healthcare CMD Pankaj Patel had been appointed as the Interim Chairman of the institution.

While the institute has not issued any official statement in this regard, highly placed sources said that apart from Patel the two other selection search committee members are BoG members D Shivakumar, Chairman and CEO(India) PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt Ltd and former NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik. However no MHRD representative was present during the meeting on Friday.

Earlier this May the HRD ministry had rejected a list of names suggested by the previous search committee and sought a fresh list of candidates. The names in the previous list had included Infosys Board of Directors- Chairman R Seshasayee, HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh and Hero MotoCorp CMD Pawan Munjal.

Incidentally, the shortlisted names were rejected following the absence of any government representative during the meetings of the search committee that drew up the previous list of names in March.
