Rihanna Fans Fight Back After It’s Claimed Her Wembley Gig Was ‘Half-Full’

It was the hottest ticket in town last night, but as Rihanna took to the stage for her ‘sell out’ show at Wembley Stadium, some outlets reported it wasn’t exactly as 'sold out’ as they said it was.

In pictures posted to Twitter yesterday evening, the 90,000 capacity stadium seemed a little on the empty side.

However – and this is a big 'however’ folks – the pictures posted on social media last night appeared to show the stadium before the concert actually started.

And in snaps shared later on in the evening, Wembley seemed pretty darn full if you ask us.

So what is the truth?

Aside from that, some fans didn’t exactly seem too impressed with the show – with some complaining that she wasn’t on stage enough.

Speaking to The Mirror, an attendee at the gig said: “She rushed through the songs and everything was double the tempo. There were 10-minute dance breaks where she went off stage and nobody knew what is going on.

"People weren’t too happy with the performance and there were a lot of empty seats.”

Well, Sam Smith seems to have been having fun, at least.

Hmm. Well, if you ask us – it’s Rihanna – the woman can do what she damn well likes. Even if she came on stage for two mins, popped a hip and shouted “WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK” and then returned to her hotel we’d still be pretty pleased.

It comes after the Bajan beauty broke down at her Dublin show this week.

The pop superstar was overcome with emotion near the start of the first show of her UK and Ireland tour last Tuesday.

Rihanna arrived on stage 30 minutes late at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium and then found herself overcome with emotion when performing her 2010 hit with Eminem, “Love The Way You Lie.”

The 28-year-old star held her hand up as a signal that she needed a moment to regain composure, leading to cheers of support from the Rihanna Navy, who were more than happy to fill in the lyrics.

A true professional, Rihanna continued with a flawless rendition of the powerful song as tears rolled down her cheeks, as she then went on to perform her full 24-song show.

It’s unclear what sparked Ri-Ri’s emotion but a number of her fans were quite concerned by it, as they took to social media to share messages of love and support for the singer.
