Kanpur: PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav lashed out at Bahuhan Samaj Party rebel Swamy Prasad Maurya on Friday, calling him a person who has lost his mental balance. Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had praised Maurya earlier and called him a popular leader.
"Maurya has lost his mental balance because he got more than what he deserved in BSP and he requires medical help," Shivpal said in Bithoor after inaugurating a bridge.

On Thursday, Maurya described Samajwadi Party as a party of 'goondas' and 'mafias'.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had described Maurya as the right person in the wrong party. "Swami Prasad Maurya is a popular leader. We are in good terms with him. It is good that he has left BSP," the CM said on Thursday.
Over the party's merger with gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari's Qaumi Ekta Dal, Shivpal said, "Both brothers Mukhtar and Afzal have come back to their home in Samajwadi Party with this merger. It will strengthen the party in eastern UP.".
With this development, those who are worried and saying that all is not well in Samajwadi Party are a frustrated lot, he said. "The party (SP) is getting stronger both in eastern as well as western UP. Our rivals are issuing such statements out of frustration. Our fight is with BJP, which is lagging far behind. We will perform well in 2017 and form next government with full majority," Shivpal added.
