While most of the people have advocated strict implementation of road safety norms, they don't want the defaulters to be harassed by the law enforcement agencies. Puneet Kumar, a doctor by profession, says helmet save a rider's life in case of a collision.
So even pillion riders should wear helmets, he said.
Madhu Kesarwani, a homemaker, said the government should encourage people to opt for road safety norms on their own and not enforce it. This way, she said, there would be more cases of enforcement agencies harassing commuters.
Vinay Mehrotra, an educationist, echoed Madhu's sentimets and said people should be encouraged to adopt road safety norms on their own.Nitin Kumar, a shopkeeper, said, "Law enforcement agencies have failed to make helmets compulsory for two-wheeler riders and the fresh order would invite criticism from all corners."
Geetesh Kapoor, a businessman, however, said people should be asked if they must invited on a common platform to debate over the issue whether they want their safety or wearing helmets due to fear of traffic police authorities?'
