Crane crash: Train traffic gets back on track

After a crane toppled on railway tracks along the Allahabad-Mughalsarai route, movement of trains on both up and down lines of the route resumed on Thursday night.

Allahabad : After a crane toppled on railway tracks along the Allahabad-Mughalsarai route, movement of trains on both up and down lines of the route resumed on Thursday night. However, the movement of several trains was affected as they arrived late on Allahabad railway junction, following bunching of trains, on Friday.
The engineering and the signaling department of the railways worked at the site to restore the movement of the trains.
The toppled crane uprooted several poles at the construction site of a railway underbridge, between Gyapura and Jigna stations.
Public relations officer of NCR, Amit Malviya said "Movement of railway traffic was restored on both the up and down lines of the Allahabad-Mughalsarai route. The movement on the up line was restored at 10:35 pm and a goods trains was allowed to pass. The movement of the trains on the down line was restored at 11:05 pm and an express train was allowed to pass."
Passengers had to face several problems because of the delay in train timings. Ashutosh Dubey, a passenger, said "I was waiting for the arrival of Howrah-Jodhpur Express at the Allahabad railway junction but the train arrived several hours late." The trains which arrived late at the Allahabad junction included Howrah-Jodhpur Express, Brahmaputra Mail, Magadh Express, Kamayani Express, North East Express among many others other trains.
