ONGC starts probe into fire incident at abandoned well in Tripura

Agartala, Jun 25 (UNI) The state owned exploration giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Tripura has launched investigation into the incident of fire that broke out at an abandoned ONGC gas well in South Tripura. As many as 10 fire tenders battled for eight hours to extinguish the fire yesterday. The fire broke out at afternoon in the ONGC's deserted gas well at Gojalia of Sabroom along Bangladesh border and fire controlled late night after a long struggle, said Superintendent of Police, South Tripura Bhanupada Chakraborty. He said suddenly after leakage of some gas, huge fire broke out in the well in a tribal dominated area and ten fire tenders and ONGC experts have rushed to the spot to control the fire. However, no major damage or any injury is reported yet. The people residing nearby the areas have been immediately shifted to faraway places and a large security forces were deployed to control the crowd and the situation as well. UNI BB PY 1015
