Ludhiana: Non government organisations have joined hands with the district administration to help them run newly-launched mobile applications and two government dispensaries.
"We were running an application named, 'Blood for You' to help patients who need blood. Now, we will merge the data we had with the App, 'I Rakt' that has been created by the district administration.
We will run the app with the district administration. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting with deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat," said Ravi Arora, a businessman from the NGO, Blood for You.
The "iRakt" mobile app was launched on May 27 by Punjab health and family welfare minister Surjit Kumar Jyani to help people in need find blood donors and blood banks in Ludhiana.
Gurpreet Singh Micky, a member of another NGO, 'Hum Log' said they have joined hands with the district administration and they will take care of the app, Mum2BE, launched for pregnant women. The app is meant to remind them to take medications and tests as required by the World Health Organisation and Punjab health department.
Meanwhile, the NGO, Ek Noor Sewa Society adopted two government dispensaries, including one in Basti Jodhewal and the other in Middha Chowk near New Model Town.
"Maintenance and medicines will be provided by the administration. We will manage working of dispensaries. Now, we are looking for MBBS doctors who can devote two to four hours to treat people every day," said Suraj Kumar of Ek Noor Sewa Society.
When approached, Ludhiana deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat said, "This is an ideal cooperation between the district administration and residents. Involvement of residents at such a level will definitely lead to cooperation between authorities and the general public for the welfare of the city."
