Justice Katju blasts media for giving importance to Salman Khan and ignoring people’s plights

New Delhi : Justice Markandey Katju blasted media for giving importance to what a film star says and ignoring people’s distress.

In Indore  when a T.V. journalist asked to comment about Salman Khan’s statement that after a hectic shooting schedule he felt like a raped woman, Justice Katju got enraged  left the journalist red-faced.

The retired supreme court judge wrote abut that event on his Facebook page .

‘After my talk in Indore Institute of Law today a T.V. media man came before me with his mike and asked me for my comment about Salman Khan’s statement that after a hectic shooting schedule he felt like a woman raped’.

To this query justice Katju replied his own way and asked,  ” Are you journalists not ashamed that you want to highlight what a film star said, instead of highlighting the people’s distress at the skyrocketing prices of dal, vegetables, etc and the massive unemployment, etc which are the real issues facing the Indian people ?. Most of you media persons sideline the real issues in India like massive poverty, unemployment, price rise, malnutrition ( every second child in India is malnourished ), lack of healthcare and good education, etc and instead project lives of film stars, cricket ( one of the opiums of the Indian masses ), babas, astrology, petty politics ( which has sunk to a very low level in India ), etc as if they are the real issues before the people. This is the low level to which most of the Indian media has sunk.”
