Fraud charges: Petition dismissed
Updates: Court of the Sessions Judge, Thiruvananthapuram on 26 July, 2016, in its order said, Report filed. The petitioner is the accused in Crime no: 1515/2016 of Fort Police Station. He has been granted bail in that case. No other crime has been registered against him, hence this petition is dismissed.
Thiruvananthapuram: The city shadow cops have arrested a 41-year-old man, who posed as a state-level leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam and allegedly duped over Rs 3.5 crore from several MBBS aspirants after promising them seats in leading colleges in Tamil Nadu.
The police identified the accused as Basheer of SBS Manzil in Athiyannoor.
Petition

Basheer was arrested after the cops received a complaint from Dr Bhanumathi, mother of this year's state medical entrance second rank holder Lakshin Dev. She said she gave Rs 58 lakh to the accused last year after he promised Lakshin an MBBS seat in a college in Chennai. This was because Lakshin did not secure higher ranks in the 2015-16 exam.
