Man murdered due to previous enmity, couple held

A 30-year-old man was murdered due to previous enmity near Usilampatti on Thursday evening. The murder took place in Nakkalapatti village when the victim had gone there along with his friend, who was distributing invitation cards for his son's ear-piercing ceremony.

Madurai: A 30-year-old man was murdered due to previous enmity near Usilampatti on Thursday evening. The murder took place in Nakkalapatti village when the victim had gone there along with his friend, who was distributing invitation cards for his son's ear-piercing ceremony.
The victim was identified as P Ramar, 30, from V Kallupatti near Usilampatti.
Police said Ramar was helping his friend B Rajendran, 34, from C Kalluthu village, who was distributing invitations for his son's function. The two went to Nakkalapatti to invite relatives. During that time, Ramar was intercepted by Muthuraman, an unknown accused and hacked. He sustained multiple cut injuries and collapsed. He was rushed to the Usilampatti government hospital where first aid was provided. He was then taken to a private hospital near Mattuthavani, but died on way to the hospital.
The body was taken to Usilampatti GH for postmortem. Usilampatti taluk police have arrested Muthuraman and his wife Indira and are on the lookout for another. Police said the victim was murdered due to previous enmity between the two.
There was a dispute between them during the recent Kallapatti temple festival.
