Police reconstruct crime scene on campus

Vadodara: Rape accused Dr Jayesh Patel was taken to the Parul University campus on Friday morning to reconstruct the happenings of the day when the girl was allegedly raped.
A team of policemen took Patel to the girls' hostel and his quarters and asked him to describe the incidents that occurred on the June 16 and 17. Patel, 67, had a room near the girls' hostel and he used to stay there often.
Hostel rector Bhavna Chauhan, who co-accused in the case, has already told the police that she had taken the rape survivor to his room. "He was taken for reconstruction of the crime. We are questioning him about the incident occurred and other details," said district superintendent of police (DSP), rural, Saurabh Tolumbiya.
The police also got one more day of remand of Bhavna from a local court on Friday evening. She was earlier sent to police custody for four days by the court. The investigators will crossexamine Bhavna and Patel and corroborate their statements.
Meanwhile, protests against Patel continued with National Students Union of India (NSUI) members staging demonstrations outside the university on Friday morning. The protesters demanded strict and swift action against Patel.
