Celebrity support has been pouring in for the four elephants, including a blind one, that were forcibly taken away by a circus company from the Wildlife SOS.

These elephants were rescued by the Wildlife SOS from the Rambo Circus and were receiving medical treatment for a variety of health issues.

Pune court ruling

But with a court in Pune recently ordering the elephants to be returned to the circus on technical issues, they were forcibly taken away.

Celebrities including former Miss World Linda Petursdottir, American Composer Matthew William Sorum, American Film Actress Lauren German and Film Actor Purab Kohli have raised their voice against this injustice and tweeted to save the four pachyderms.

Purab Kohli tweeted, “Please do sign and share this for these 4 #Indian #Elephants's” followed by Linda Petursdottir tweet, “Please sign this petition #Help #AnimalAbuse #AnimalWelfare #Elephants. Lauren German said, “4 abused elephants were rescued but now have been taken back to the circus. PLEASE PLEASE sign this petition. Help!”.

The elephants were rescued from the Rambo Circus last month but were forcibly taken away by a large group from that circus on Thursday after a Pune court ruled in their favour based on a procedural technicality.

Meanwhile, the Wildlife SOS is exploring various legal recourse remedies so proper care for these elephants can be resumed.

Wildlife SOS has also launched a petition to request the government and the courts to reconsider their decision to send the elephants back to the circus.
