Civic body to reserve 10% jobs for EWS
Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will implement the state government policy to give 10 per cent reservation in jobs to persons from the unreserved economically weaker sections (UEWS).
The policy was announced by the state government recently in wake of the demands for reservations made by Patidars as well as other upper castes in the state.

VMC's standing committee passed a proposal adopting 10 per cent reservation for UEWS on Thursday. The proposal states that the social justice and empowerment department had written to the VMC to provide the reservation benefits to UEWS in its recruitment.
The resolution states that the criteria adopted for awarding reservations to the UEWS by the state government will have to be followed by the VMC. Any change in these criteria will also have to be adopted by the civic body.
These include policy regarding the creamy layer for the socially and economically backward categories (SEBC) adopted by the state government. The proposal cleared by the standing committee will now be put up before the general board of the civic body for its nod.
The reservation economically weaker sections of the unreserved castes was adopted by the state government after the Patidar quota stir in the state.
