Bhopal: Mining baron Sudhir Sharma, a key accused in the Vyapam scam, walked out of jail after two years on Friday. Madhya Pradesh high court had granted him bail on June 22.
After Sharma came out of the jail, he worshipped at both the temples situated in the jail premises. Thereafter while interacting with media persons, he informed he has written three books while being in jail and termed action against him in Vyapam as vindictive.
Sharma was received by his supporters outside the jail and he moved out in form of a rally moving through VIP road, Kamla Park, Polytechnique square to his house in Akriti Garden of Nehru Nagar.
His supporters also fired crackers during the rally.
On Wednesday, a division bench of high court comprising acting Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Sanjay Yadav granted bail to Sharma in platoon commander's recruitment scam, police constable recruitment scam and contractual teachers' recruitment scam. Court had already granted him bail in forest guards recruitment test last year.
Sharma was in jail after he surrendered before a local court in July 2014; three months after STF announced a reward of Rs 5,000 on him. Sharma, a school teacher, was close to former higher and technical education minister, Laxmikant Sharma, and soon presided over a mining empire in the state. He was a teacher at Saraswati Shishu Mandir School and his family was into a small-scale dairy business in Jhabua. Till 2003, Sharma was a lecturer at Samrat Ashok Technical Institute in Vidisha district.

After BJP came to power in December 2003, Sharma was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Praudyogiki Vishwavidhyala (RGPV), Bhopal, and was appointed protocol officer of minister Laxmikant Sharma, who also held the mining portfolio. This proved a turning point in Sharma's life. Soon, he launched his first mine at Jhabua.
He became a confidant of Laxmikant Sharma and started a company S R Ferro Alloys. Sharma now has mining interests in Rewa, Satna, Rajgarh, Kareli, Sagar, Chhattarpur, Jhabua, Panna, Dhar and other districts.
