The Chromepet police detained three transgenders and an autorickshaw driver for allegedly snatching a gold ring from a woman motorist on Friday.

Police sources said Srividya Kumar (38) was on her way to pick up her child from the school on GST Road, when Nivetha (24), Sowmya (22) and Vinod (22) demanded money. As the woman was handing over Rs. 100, the trio snatched the golden ring from her finger and sped away in an autorickshaw driven by Suman (22) of Kasimedu.

The auto was caught by Srividya and other road users, with all the four inside the vehicle. The Chromepet police detained the accused and interrogations are on, said a police official.
