Engineering fee for CET upped 6 times since 2004

Bengaluru: The engineering course fee for CET students has been increased six times since 2004; for ComedK students, it has been revised five times.
While a CET student paid Rs 15,000 for his engineering course in 2004, today a candidate has to cough up Rs 55,000. As for ComedK candidates, the fee has gone up from Rs 50,000 in 2004 to Rs 1.7 lakh now.
According to sources in the medical education department, Karnataka's fee structure for MBBS is less compared to other states; Karnataka has the highest number of medical colleges in the country.

In 2004, the fee structure for MBBS for CET candidates was Rs 35,000. This year it has gone up to Rs 70,000. Similarly, ComedK's has gone up from Rs 1.65 lakh to Rs 5.75 lakh. In 12 years, the MBBS fee has been revised thrice for CET candidates and five times for ComedK ones.
Though there's not a huge demand for BDS courses, the fee for the same has been increased thrice for CET candidates and four times for ComedK. In 2004, BDS fee for CET candidates was Rs 25,000. Today, the same dental course costs Rs 45,000; ComedK's BDS fee structure has gone up from Rs 1 lakh in 2004 to Rs 3.9 lakh.
