Saransh (12), son of the house owner, was studying in the front room when the three robbers barged into the house. They moved to the bedroom, where Mantrabai (60) was resting. The young boy later went out through the back door and alerted his mother’s sister, who resides in the adjoining house. They shouted for help and a few youths from the neighbourhood tried to chase the fleeing robbers, but could not do anything as they were threatened with a revolver.
Pankaj Nanwani is president of District Chemist and Druggist Association and a whole sale dealer of a pharmaceutical company. He lodged a complaint with Wadgaon Road police station. No arrest has been made so far.
Minister of state for home Dr Ranjit Patil, union minister of state for chemical fertilizers Hansraj Ahir and Amravati Range IG Sanjeevkumar Singhal visited the crime scene. Local crime branch chief Sanjay Deshmukh confirmed the dacoity and admitted no arrest has been made so far. SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh refused to talk to the media.
