Killer sloth bear dies at city zoo

Hyderabad: The sloth bear, which was brought to Nehru Zoo Park from the forest near Achampet in Mahbubnagar district on Monday, died on Friday morning. The bear was being treated for injuries around its neck and limbs that it suffered when it tried to escape the snares that it was caught in.
It may be recalled that on Monday, the bear killed Banoth Budya Naik, 50, who thought the animal was dead and tried to remove the snare.
Zoo veterinarian Dr MA Hakeem, who conducted the bear's post-mortem, said it had suffered severe internal injuries, leading to the death.
