RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to draw his attention towards a recent HRD circular, which said that reservation in OBC category for the posts of professor and associate professor has been done away with.
Lalu said the HRD’s move had created doubts and confusion in the minds of OBC candidates. He requested the PM to seek information from the HRD ministry and clarify the central government’s stand on the matter.

In a two-page letter, the RJD chief said: “Also please tell us the number of OBC and Dalit professors and associate professors who are working with the central universities in the country. It is a well-known fact that there has been an organised attempt to deprive people of reservation. The majority group wants to know if the PM is aware of this fact or not.”
He also drew the PM’s attention towards discontinuing fellowship of students belonging to the scheduled tribes, citing paucity of funds. “Why schemes related to poor people are stopped citing paucity of funds?” asked Lalu.
