The new Edmonton Brewery District development officially opened its first store Friday with a Loblaw’s CityMarket that features a 12-foot cheese wall and a sushi bar.

Located in the Oliver neighborhood on the site previously occupied by the iconic Molson Canadian building that closed in 2007, the Loblaw’s CityMarket and the Brewery District will continue the downtown’s ongoing revitalization.

“We are really excited today to be opening the first Loblaw’s CityMarket here in Edmonton,” store owner Chad McDowell said.

The Brewery District will introduce a second store Saturday with the opening of a Shoppers Drug Mart. Goodlife Fitness and Winners are expected to open later in the summer.
