MUMBAI: A portion of Gilder Tank Maidan at Grant Road has been reserved for the Grant Road
metro station. The
station is part of the underground Metro III from Colaba to SEEPZ.
The state has dereserved 554sqm of the 4,800sqm play
ground for the station. R Ramana, executive director, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) that is executing the project, said around 200 sqm will be required for entry and exit to the station, and for ancillary suction next to the road.
“The rest of the playground reservation will remain the same,” he said.
Ramana said the tender process is nearing completion. “The board has already held a meeting. The work orders will be issued once the minutes of the meeting are out. There will be seven contractors for the seven sections of the route,” he said.
Ramana said MMRCL has obtained possession of almost all government land, and BMC land is in the process of being transferred.
