BENGALURU: Siddaganga Mutt seer Shivakumar Swamiji, 109, has been admitted to BGS global hospital in Bengaluru on Friday.
As per medical investigations, he is suffering from acute jaundice coupled with obstruction in the flow of bile juice. He is likely to undergo a procedure on Saturday. The seer, described as ‘Walking God’ (Nadedaduva Devaru) hails from Veerapura, Magadi and is known for his humanitarian work.
BGS hospital doctors said that his condition was stable and not critical.
“We were aware of his condition and I personally asked him to come over to the hospital for a thorough medical check up. If he agrees to stay overnight in the hospital, we will do further tests on Saturday. We shall investigate if there are ant stones in the bile duct that’s causing blockage in the liver tube,” said Dr N K Venkataramana, vice chairman of the hospital. “The seer infact walked into the hospital without any help,” he said.
Speaking to TOI, Dr Adarsh P K, medical gastroenterologist who is treating the seer said that he may have to undergo endoscopy on Saturday. “We would conduct either endoscopy or we may have to insert a needle in the liver to clear the block. There are blockages in pancreas, which has led to obstruction in the flow of bile juice to the intestine,” said Dr Adarsh.
