Speaker, Kavinder Gupta, today directed the Government to submit a fact-finding report on the reported allotment of mining rights to a non-State Subject in Jammu region. The issue was raised by CPI (M) legislator, Mr M.Y. Tarigami who informed the House that one Mohan Pal Singh of Chandigarh has been granted mining rights over 40 hectares in two pockets of Ravi river by the J&K Geology and Mining Department.Other members of the House said the Pollution Control Board has also given No-Objection Certificate to the Chandigarh resident for carrying out mining around the River. The Speaker it may be recalled,  has already ordered constitution of a House Committee led by Mohammad Akbar Lone, to look into the SRO 105, which reportedly grants mining rights to non-State Subjects.
