Amid rumors that the general awareness questions being asked at the entrance test of postgraduate admission test (PGAT-2016), Allahabad University conducted entrance test for all the courses taught on the campus, on Friday.

ALLAHABAD: Amid rumors that the general awareness questions being asked at the entrance test of postgraduate admission test (PGAT-2016), Allahabad University conducted entrance test for all the courses taught on the campus, on Friday. The test was held at 80 online and 26 offline centers spread in 18 cities of the country.
As per the schedule, the test commenced at 9:00am at all the centers of the country including 8 offline and 5 online test centers of the city.
AU authorities had distributed time slab between 9am to 12 noon for PGAT and 2pm to 5pm wherein test for admission in MEd, BEd and some courses under professional studies were conducted.
The candidates, who wanted to appear for five subjects were asked to report at respective test center at 8:15am (45 minute prior to starting of the test) and the question paper was given at 9:00am. Candidates who had opted to appear in four subjects were given question booklet half an hour later and subsequently there reporting time was 8:45am and the sequence followed and the candidate who wanted to appear for single subject was asked to report inside the test center at 10:15am and they were instructed to start their paper at 11:00am.
However, while the aspirants were giving their paper, a set of 6 pages of the question booklet went viral on WhatsApp. These were photos of page 1 to 6 which showed the questions asked through Hindi medium. The pics were posted at the group made by AU authorities to update the media about any information regarding admissions.
Although, some of the student leaders and aspirants alleged that the GS paper was leaked, AU authorities have denied the allegations. “When the paper was distributed at 9:00am and the pics were circulated around 10:30, how anyone can claim that the paper was leaked,” questioned director admission Prof B N Singh while talking to TOI. However, we would be lodging an FIR and conduct an inquiry as to how the pics of the question booklet came out when mobile phones were banned within the test centers, he added.
The director further said, “I have received some complaints about cheating at one of the room at a test center of the entrance for combined research entrance test (CRET), conducted on Thursday and I am looking onto the matter and may debar the involved room.”
