RSM partner set for top ICAEW role

A partner at RSM in Basingstoke and Southampton has been elected deputy president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for 2016-17.

Nick Parker has served as an elected council member since 1995. During those 21 years he has been a member of the ICAEW board, chaired its council for three years and chaired its members’ board.

He said: "The ICAEW has a proud history as a professional body and I am committed to upholding its strong traditions and values while at the same time looking to continue the essential and on-going programme of modernisation.

"The UK accountancy profession is currently in rude health, but we need to maintain standards and further enhance the reputation of the profession to ensure that our accountancy qualification is attractive to potential students."

Parker will serve as deputy president from June 2016 to June 2017. Subject to his formal election at the June 2017 council meeting, he will serve as ICAEW president from June 2017 to June 2018.
