AL leaders visit Ramakrishna Mission, assure security
A delegation of ruling Awami League leaders today visited Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka after its head priest recently got a death threat.
The delegation led by AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif met with the staff around 11:00am and assured of their safety in the wake of recent threat issued allegedly by militants.
Hanif told the reporters that the defeated forces of 1971 and BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami men are trying to create panic among the people by secret killings and threats.
“There’s nothing to be scared of,” Hanif said.
Swami Dhrubrshananda Maharaj, principal of the mission, said, “The activities of the mission are going smoothly and the AL leaders came here to assure us of safety.”
AL leaders including Abudur Razzak, Shahe Alam Murad, Sujit Roy Nondi and local Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid visited the Mission.
The government earlier informed us that adequate securities were being provided and we also observed it. So, there is nothing to be panicked, he added.
Earlier on June 19, Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla visited the mission and expressed his satisfaction over the security provided by the government.
The head Hindu priest of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in the capital received a threat on his life on June 16.
The letter did not name anyone but mentioned the top preacher of the mission as the recipient.
