BOKARO: Police on Thursday arrested five miscreants who shot at Bokaro businessman Sudhir Kumar Sao at his home under Bermo police station on June 7. Sudhir escaped unharmed. Police said six miscreants, including the victim's cousin, was involved in the shooting.
The accused have been identified as Raju, Ravishankar Singh, Rashid Khan, Mohd Javedan and Budhan Kumar.
Khan, Javedan and Budhan are Patna natives, while Raju and Singh hail from Bermo.
Police seized a pistol, a country-made gun and cartridges from their possession. Bermo DSP Neeraj Kumar said Raju Kumar Sao, the victim's cousin, was the mastermind.
"There exists a professional rivalry between the cousins," said Kumar. Raju hired contract killers from Bihar to kill Sao.
In another incident, a 30-year-old woman killed her 11-year-old daughter and then proceeded to hang herself from a tree.
Police on Thursday found both bodies in a forest area near Budgadda under Bermo police station, a few kilometres from the deceased's home. The deceased have been identified as Rukanai Devi and Priya Kumari. Police have lodged two FIRs in this connection. A case of unnatural death (UD) was lodged in the case of Devi's death. Police lodged an FIR under section 302 of IPC against Kumari for killing her daughter.
Bermo DSP Neeraj Kumar said Devi became "mentally unstable" after her husband passed away four years ago. Police said Devi lost her second daughter two years ago. Soon after her husband's death, Devi moved out of her in-laws' house.
