Umesh Sachdev, CEO and co-founder of Uniphore, became the only Indian national to find a place in Time Magazine's list of 10 millennials who are changing the world.
Uniphore, is a startup that produces software that allow people to access digital services by speaking in their native languages.
Presently, the company's products have more than 500 million users.
At just 30, Umesh Sachdev has attained high honours for a Chennai-based technologist he is the only Indian to find a place in Time Magazine's list of "10 millennials who are changing the world".
Umesh (30) says that his innovation journey began in 2008, working with Uniphore co-founder and COO Ravi Saraogi, at the Incubation Centre in IIT Madras.
"Nearly 70 percent of people live in smaller towns and villages in India. They are largely disconnected from the digital revolution because of language barrier. Therefore we have decided to start working on this unique initiative, which was something new," Sachdev said.
He said, "There were challenges but we collectively managed to meet our goals to serve the people."
