Emily Wurramara is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Arnhem Land. She lives on the Gold Coast, a long way from her traditional country.

My people are the Anindilyakwa clan from Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory.

My strongest sense of connection and belonging is Bickerton Island, down by the rock pools. That's where I feel my ancestors with me as I sit there and listen to the water hitting the rocks. It's a very sacred place.

I could close my eyes and just picture my people sitting around a campfire telling stories to the next generation like my grandmother did when I was younger. It's a place of reflection, a place of serenity, it's where that sacred dreaming is.
