Karnataka State Tribal Research Institute (KSTRI) has invited applications for abstract and full paper presentation on 'Tribal economy in India: In reference to Karnataka'. KSTRI will host a two-day national seminar on July 29 and 30. The aim of the event is to bring stakeholders like academicians, policymakers, officials, programme administrators, civil society workers, scheduled tribe and NGO representatives, social development activists and practitioners to debate and discuss the topic with reference to Karnataka.
Entry fee is Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 for faculty/ academicians, and research scholars/ students, respectively. Interested candidates may submit their abstract before July 18. The last date for registration for the seminar is July 25. 0821-2560275.
Concert: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha will host a two-day concert in memory of T V Srinivasan, Venkatadasappa and M V Lakshmamma at K Vasudevacharya Bhavan on JLB Road at 5.30pm from Saturday. On the first day, S Saketh Raman, carnatic classical vocalist, will present a concert. He will be accompanied by V Srikanth on the violin, B C Manjunath on the mridangam and G Guruprasanna on the khanjira. On the second day, Sampagodu Vighnaraja, carnatic classical vocalist, will perform along with Aditi Krishna Prakash, Renuka Prasad, R Karthik, who will play violin, mridangam and khanjira, respectively.

Yoga Day fete: Association of Food Scientist and Technology, in association with CFTRI and DFRL and Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, will celebrate International Yoga Day by hosting 'Yoga, food and health' programme at Gyan Sarovar on Hunsur Road from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday. Arun K Sahoo, deputy general manager, NSPCL (a joint venture of NTPC and SAIL, Bhilai), will be present. CFTRI director Ram Rajasekharan will inaugurate the event. DFRL director Rakesh Kumar Sharma will be the chief guest.

Zoo animals, birds adopted: Following wildlife enthusiasts have adopted animals/ bird in Mysuru Zoo: N Ravi Keerthi - livingstone's turaco, Siddanth and Ira - brown-wood owl, Sri Umacharan Pradhan and Jagnaseni Pradhan - Indian cobra, Vinod Kumar and Prathibha - military macaws and Indian black turtle, B S Prabha - king cobra and Indian cobra, Alisha Satish Machani and Kiran Ram Machani - lemur and peafowl, and M R Ramesh - emu and Nilgiri langur.
Workshop on web designing: City-based animation institute Toon2 will conduct a free workshop on web designing at its centre in Kuvempunagar on Saturday. The workshop covers courses in print, media, web designing, 2D and 3D animation and VFX. 0821-4276640.
Yoga Day celebrated: Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) celebrated International Day of Yoga in its campus on June 21. Bengaluru-based Nimhans director Dr B N Gangadhar inaugurated the event and spoke on how yoga helps in ensuring mental and physical health. Over 500 participants from JSS Public School, JSS Technical Institutions, JSS Polytechnic for Differently Abled attended the event. The participants plant 100 saplings to mark the birth centenary celebrations of Shivarathri Rajendra Swami.
