Lightning kills two brothers near Kalol

Vadodara: Two brothers were killed after being struck by lightning in Malav village of Kalol taluka in Panchmahal district on Thursday. A buffalo was also injured in the incident.
According to sources, Govind Pratap Rathod (35) and his brother Ashwin (30) were working on the roof of their house. Villagers usually take up such repair work to protect their houses ahead of the monsoon.Lightning first struck a tree near their house and then the roof they were standing on. The duo suffered severe burn injuries and were rushed to the Kalol referral hospital for treatment. They were declared dead at the hospital.
A buffalo that was tethered near the house also suffered burns.
Kalol and surrounding areas received rain showers following lightning. Elsewhere, some places in Chhota Udepur district near here also received rainfall.
Bodeli town in the district registered 29mm rainfall in the evening while the district headquarter Chhota Udepur town registered 8mm rainfall.
