It was all smiles on the faces of students of Eko Akete Senior High School, Campus Square, Lagos when the Rotary Club of Lagos Central refurbished the Home Economics laboratory, restored potable water with the provision of an overhead tank and also donated computer sets to the school, all costing N450,000.

The club also fulfilled its promise to Dolphin Senor High School, Lagos with its donation of two public address system, computer sets, five dozens of chairs and five tables at the cost of N400,000.

President of the club, Rotn. Ayinde Idowu Emmanuel, said the two schools have always been beneficiaries of the club’s projects. He attributed one of the reasons for the gesture to the fact that the club wants to inculcate the spirit of giving into the students and also resuscitate Interact Club in the schools, so that they could be part of the Rotary family.

“The government cannot do it all alone and this is the reason Rotary tries to intervene in some focal areas like health, education and youth empowerment. I met with the former Principal of Dolphin High School who gave us their needs and we have given priority to those items specifically requested for with our donations today,” he said.

Responding to the donations, principal of Dolphin Senior High School, Mrs. Modinat Animashaun, said the school appreciates the magnanimity of the club. “I am really impressed and your donations came at the right time they are needed. They will meet the academic needs of the school,” she said.
