ATS arrests two from Thane in ephedrine case

Ahmedabad: Gujarat ATS on Thursday arrested Jay Mukhi and Manoj Jain on transfer warrant from Thane. The two were brought to the city in connection with the case of ephedrine worth Rs270 crore that was seized in April 2016 from a factory at Kanbha, on the outskirts of the city.
Similar raids were carried out by Thane police at a factory in Solapur, and ephedrine worth over Rs2,000 crore was seized.Both Jay Mukhi and Manoj Jain were nabbed by Thane police then.
ATS sources said after Narendra Kacha's arrest from the spot in Kanbha, they had arrested Puneet Singeri earlier on transfer warrant from Thane police custody. Singeri was manager and Manoj Jain was the owner of the company located in Solapur from which ephedrine was transported to Ahmedabad factory.
