Mutavalli committee: Probe graft charge, HC directs state govt
Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh high court (MPHC) on Thursday ordered the state government to investigate allegations of massive corruption in Mutavalli committee and initiate legal action in six months.
MLA Arif Aqueel had moved a petition before the HC alleging that the audit of Auqaf-e-Amma for financial year 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 unearthed corruption to the tune of crores.
Aqueel said the present Waqf Board committee was constituted on August 14 in 2013 and the chairman is Shaukat Mohammad Khan.
Chief executive officer (CEO) of the board, who is also a chairman of the Mutavalli committee, had sought an explanation from Khan on the matter. The MLA claimed the CEO had apprised the state government, additional chief secretary, minority welfare department, Central Waqf Council and the chief minister of the issue, but no action was taken.
A single bench of the high court comprising Justice R S Jha disposed of the petition with order to the state government to look into allegations in six months.
