Eshwarappa objects to choice of office-bearers of BJP district units

BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa has expressed displeasure at the way in which State president B.S. Yeddyurappa chose the party office-bearers and presidents of district units.

“These are the results of a unilateral decision taken by Mr. Yeddyurappa,” Mr. Eshwarappa told presspersons here on Thursday. “These appointments were made without discussing these names in the party core committee meeting. This is wrong and I will raise the issue at the proper platform. I will question the appointments before the senior leaders concerned in the party.”

Mr. Eshwarappa, who held a meeting with officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, criticised the State government for its “complete failure to control the sand mining and transport mafia”.

“Illegal sand transport is going on openly. The poor don’t have sand while the rich pay bribes to get it. The border gates in districts like Bidar are not guarded well and sand is transported to neighbouring States like Maharashtra and brought in from there without following due procedure,” he alleged.

“Once I complained to the government, with sufficient proof, of the involvement of PWD Minister H.C. Mahadevappa’s son. But the CM did not act and now the son has received a notice from the court,” he said.

He said that the State government had failed to pass a sand policy to regulate its mining, transport and trade, despite several requests from the BJP and other parties. He alleged that the State government had not released its share of crop loss relief to farmers.

The Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj had erected only 38 of the 139 water filter units promised in the villages.
