BJP MLAs pay tributes to Mookherjee in Assembly, demand judicial probe into his mysterious death

JAMMU, June 23: Rich tributes were paid to founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and a veteran leader Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee on the occasion of his Balidaan Divas today. In this connection State Unit of BJP organized functions at different places in which this national hero was remembered. The party organized different programmes at district, Mandal and booth levels across the State.
For the first time in the history of State the tributes were paid to this great national leader on the floor of the State Assembly by BJP Legislators led by Party president Sat Sharma. Sharma not only paid tributes to this great national hero who was the architect of J&K’s total integration with rest of India by forcing the State Government to abolish the permit system but also demanded that a judicial probe be conducted into his mysterious death.
Sharma was supported by all the legislators of the Party. He also demanded a judicial probe into the death of veteran Jan Sangh leader so that mystery which has not been unfolded for years be brought in front of the people.
However, the main function was organized by Jammu district BJP at its Trikuta Nagar Office, wherein State general secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta, district president Baldev Singh Billawaria, district general secretary Vinay Gupta, Cells Incharge S. Varinderjeet Singh and Mandal presidents Ankush Gupta and Harban Choudhary garlanded the statue of Dr. Mookherjee and paid rich tributes to him.
Ashok Kaul, while paying homage to Dr Mookherjee said that his sacrifice for the integrity and sovereignty of the country and for making J&K State integral part of the country constitutes a milestone event in the history of the State and the country. His detention for entering the State without having obtained infamous ‘entry permit’ and thereafter his death in jail has remained a mystery till date. Dr. Mookherjee, who had entered the State without permit and aving a Tricolur in hand had a brilliant academic career. He joined politics with the sole aim of serving public and the nation. He did not hanker after the power as he resigned from the Nehru’s cabinet on account of differences and became the founder member of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the precursor of BJP. The movement of nationalist forces in the State to abolish the entry permit system and introduce free hoisting of National Tricolor was initiated by Dr. Mookherjee and paid the ultimate price of his life for the same.
Prof. Virender Gupta, in his address at Balidaan Divas programme, said that Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee’s sacrifice was the start of the process of the nationalist forces of the State of resisting and struggling against the anti-national and fissiparous forces within and outside the State. This struggle for the strong and integral nation always finds inspiration from the life and the sacrifice of this great son of the country.
Similar programme was organized by Jammu West District of BJP under District President Ayodhya Gupta at Kachi Chawni office.
BJP State treasurer Chander Mohan Gupta, district prabhari Jugal Kishore Gupta and other leaders paid tributes to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee.
Bhartiya Janta Party Mandal R.S Pura , and Mandal Miran Sahib organized a function at the B.J.P Office R.S Pura in which rich tributes were paid to the founder president of Bhartiya Jan Sangh Shyama Prasad Mookherjee on his Martyrdom day. Speaking on the occasion Karan Bhagat senior B.J.P leader said that due to the sacrifice of Dr Mookherjee we are able to form a popular Government in the State. Others who were present in the function included Mandal Pradhan R.S Pura Natharam, Mandal Pradhan Miran Sahib Devender Sharma, city BJP president Inder Sudan, district president Mahila Morcha Nirmal Kumari, BJYM R.S Pura and Miran Sahib presidents, Kundan Lal Sharma, Charanjeet Kumar, Bodhraj, Sunil Kumar, and other prominent workers of Bhartiya Janata Party.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr Mookherjee by the State BJP leaders on his 63rd Balidan Divas at Barnai.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP Kissan Morcha State president Rajinder Singh Chib  said Dr Mookherjee sacrificed his life while fighting to end the permit system under which any one leaving or entering the J&K State had to obtain a permit and this practice did not exist in any other State of the country. He said the sacrifice of this great leader is an inspiration for millions of BJP activists all over the country.
Sunil Sharma another leader said this great leader sacrificed his life for the total integration of J&K with rest of India. On occasion BJP Kissan Morcha senior vice president Pavinder Gupta(Golu Shah) K.L. Sharma, Sahil Seth,Ravi Sharma ,Suraj Padha, Ch Nazair Hussain and others were also present.
A function was also organised by BJP at Pouni  in Reasi district to pay tributes to great leader.
