Allahabad: A disabled man made an abortive bid to immolate himself at district magistrate office in Kaushambi district on Thursday.
However, alert home-guards on duty over-powered him and later handed him over to Manjhanpur police.
The man identified as Babulal, is a resident of Gulamipur village of Manjhanpur tehsil. Babulal has been challaned under Section 151 of CrPC for attempting suicide.
Superintendent of police, Kaushambi, VK Mishra said district authorities are probing the compliant lodged by the victim. Two-years-ago, Babulal's land was occupied by influential people of his village. Thereafter, he made numerous rounds of the offices, but the officials concerned allegedly refused to redress his complaints.
Babulal alleged that in past 18 months, he had submitted his complaints to the district magistrate and the chief minister, but no action was taken till date.
