I REFER to the report “Four researchers falsified science data, says UM” (The Star, June 17). While the incident is most unfortunate, it also provides the public a chance to understand the problems with medical research in any part of the world.
Clinical research has to be useful. Publishing poor quality research for any reason whatsoever harms patients. Doctors use published research to treat patients every day. We call this evidence-based medicine.
