Piyush Goyal to meet Chief Minister today

Union Minister of State for Power, Coal and MNRE Piyush Goyal, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Power, will hold a meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday on 24x7 power supply to all States, 100 per cent household electrification, distribution of over 70 crore LED bulbs to the citizens, etc.

The meeting will specifically discuss a five-point programme comprising 24x7 quality power supply to all commercial, industrial and domestic consumers, 100 per cent household electrification in about two years, enhancement of generation capacity (especially 1600 MW capacity addition through Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Station and drastic reduction of T&D losses from 12.64 per cent to 10.2 per cent and promotion of new and renewable energy particularly solar parks and energy efficiency activities in a big way. State Energy Conservation Mission CEO A. Chandrasekhar Reddy said in a press release that the heads of AP-DISCOMs and officials of Ministry of Power and Government of A.P will also sign a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the UDAY scheme in the presence of Mr. Goyal and Mr. Naidu for taking over debts/loans amounting to Rs.9000 crore of AP-DISCOMs.

Principal Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain and AP-Genco/AP-Transco MD K. Vijayanand will inform Mr. Goyal about the power sector initiatives in the State. Floating of a new entity - Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Limited - exclusively for energy efficiency programmes in A.P will also be discussed in detail.
