Panaji: Four days after naming the Aam Aadmi Party in a site inspection notice regarding the construction of illegal garages and stores in Navagauri Apartments at Porvorim, which the party has nothing to do with, block development officer-1 K S Pangam withdrew the notice to all parties.
The party’s national executive member Dinesh Waghela who owns two flats in the almost three-decade-old Navagauri Apartments rented out the office to AAP.
The alleged illegal constructions of garages and stores are on the ground floor of the residential building and have nothing to do with the party.
“Has the illegal structure become legal overnight? Why was the whole inspection withdrawn? The government had no intention of acting on any illegality, it is just targeting AAP,” AAP’s secretary Valmiki Naik told a press conference on Thursday.
AAP had termed the notice a personal attack by the government to distract from the issue of chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s brother-in-law being reinstated after he was caught by the anti-corruption bureau on August 19 accepting a bribe of 1 lakh as a Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) field officer to allow a plot in Tuem industrial estate.
“As per Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, criminal misconduct has a minimal sentence is one year and maximum seven years plus fines. In this case, there’s no jail and no fine. What sort of law is this?” Naik asked.
AAP has also submitted an RTI application to GIDC asking whether any departmental inquiry has been initiated by GIDC against Ghanshyam Malvankar alias Dilip on his arrest. The party has asked for certified copies of the department inquiry proceeding, order in the departmental inquiry proceeding, whether Malvankar was suspended from service and copy of the file notings in respect to this reinstatement. Naik said if no departmental inquiry was conducted the party will demand that be conducted.
