Milton Hershey School Hosts Global Education Symposium

National thought leaders, MHS staff and other scholars collaborate and share educational models.

On June 21-23, Milton Hershey School® hosted a Global Education Symposium in partnership with Education First and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools. The symposium featured nationally-renowned thought leaders, Milton Hershey School staff and other educational scholars who shared innovative approaches to 21st century learners.

"The global education symposium was a way for highly talented educators from across the country to collaborate and share ideas to better themselves and their curriculum," said MHS President Pete Gurt '85. "I'm personally proud of the Milton Hershey School staff participating and sharing the success of our School programs that help students reach their full potential."

Leading industry experts including President and Co-Founder of EdLeader21 Valerie Greenhill, writer and educational consultant Suzie Boss, and author and professor Dr. Joseph Levine, shared their knowledge as well as explored new strategies to empower students to thrive in an increasingly connected global world.

Greenhill challenged educators to ensure the global education improvements they would like to make to their programs are "truly aligned with their vision so that all children have an opportunity to succeed in the modern world."

MHS educators shared their expertise on topics like Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math education (STEAM), social and emotional learning (SEL), technology, global education, project-based learning, and student and parent engagement. The School's curriculum emphasizes multicultural and global experience to elevate students' understanding of how to be successful in today's world.

The goal of the symposium was for educators to learn about new approaches to integrate into their curriculum that promote design thinking, educational technology, and 21st century success.
