HBO releases the first trailer for Issa Rae‘s “Insecure,” Cinemax sets premiere date for marine driven “Quarry,” Frances Conroy joins the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Mist” and more in Thursday’s TV news roundup.

Cinemax has confirmed the premiere date for the eight-episode season of “Quarry,” which tells the story of a marine who returns home from Vietnam in 1972 to find himself rejected by those he loves and demonized by the public. The series, which stars Logan Marshall-Green as marine Mac Conway, will premiere on September 9 at 10 p.m. on Cinemax.
PBS has announced its Fall TV schedule, which will includes “Churchill’s Secret” featuring Michael Gambon on September 11 at 8 p.m.; “Hamilton’s America,” which will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look of the creation of Broadway sensation “Hamilton,” on October 21 at 9 p.m.;”Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You” on October 25 at 9.m.; “Anne of Green Gables” starring Martin Sheen on November 24 at 8 p.m.; “The Hollow Crown” featuring Judi Dench, Benedict Cumberbatch and Phoebe Fox on Sundays December 11-25 at 9 p.m.; Ken Burns’ “Defying the Nazis: Sharps’ War” on September 20 at 9 p.m.; and the “Call the Midwife” Holiday Special on December 25 at 7:30 p.m.

HBO has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming comedy series “Insecure,” which centers around “the friendship of two modern-day black women, Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji), and all of their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.” Rae is the creator of Shorty Award-winning webseries “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.” The show, which was co-created by “The Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore and Rae, will premiere this fall on HBO.
CASTING
Spike TV has announced that Frances Conroy will be starring in new scripted series “The Mist,” which is based on the Stephen King novella in which a mist invades a town and wreaks havoc. Conroy will be playing Nathalie, a modern day ecological martyr. The series will go into production this summer and will premiere in 2017.
truTV has cast Tom Everett Scott for scripted comedy pilot “I’m Sorry,” which stars Andrea Savage as a comedy writer, wife and mom who is forced into unexpected situations. Scott will plays Savage’s husband. Jason Mantzoukas, June Squibb, Gary Anthony Williams, Gillian Vigman, Maya Erskine and LaMonica Garrett will also be joining the pilot. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Andy Samberg and Savage will all be executive producers.
NBC has announced that George Lopez, Reba McEntire, NE-YO and Louis Tomlinson will be joining the “America’s Got Talent” panel for The Judge Cuts. Season 11 of “America’s Got Talent” is set to premiere on July 12 at 8 p.m on NBC, and will begin the show’s twice weekly airings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Marion Edwards, President of International Television, has announced that Cristina Sala will be joining Fox as Vice President of Sales, Italy, Italian Speaking Switzerland and Greece at Twentieth Century Fox Television for Pay TV, Subscription Video on Demand, Basic and Free TV. Sala will be based in the newly opened Milan office. She will work closely with Edwards in strategic sales planning for Italy, Switzerland and Greece.
Punch TV Studios has announced Mathew Knowles, father of Beyoncé Knowles, as is its new President of Content Development and Acquisitions. Knowles has managed Destiny’s Child along with the the solo careers of both Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. Knowles is also Founder, President and CEO of Music World Entertainment.
