State top cop unveils three apps for public
MUMBAI: State police chief Praveen Dixit has launched three apps for the public.
Women travelling in the city can download this application and once she presses the button, the control room will be alerted and details of the woman, her location will be seen in the police control room and the nearest police men will be asked to reach out to her.
The other app, Police Mitra, is for those who want to pass on information to help the police.
Members of the public can download this app from the Internet. One has to first fill one’s personal details to register. There will be three options — in need of help, police friend and to report an incident. One can click the picture/video and send these visuals and help the police or report complaints.
Another online app is for motorvehicle theft (www.vahanchoritakrar.com). Any body whose vehicle is stolen can go to this site and complain. After filling details like vehicle number and colour the information will be flashed in the control room. This complaint will be considered as an FIR, said Dixit. TNN
