Criminal from Dias plot slums booked under MPDA
PUNE: The city police have booked Pintya alias Rohidas Laxman Gupte (32), a resident of Dias Plot in Gultekdi under the stringent norms of Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act for his alleged role in many molestation cases, assault cases, and rioting in the slums.
Swargate police station has prepared a proposal to book Gupte under the MPDA Act which was executed by joint police commissioner Sunil Ramanand.

According to police, Gupte used to carry sharp weapons with him and used to molest woman from the slum and those using public road by issuing threats to them. He also set ablaze a hutment when a woman refused to acknowledge his advances.
Police said Gupte used to issue threats to the local residents, especially the autorickshaw drivers and local businessmen.
So far, police have booked five persons from different slum pockets under the MPDA Act and this is the sixth case. Under the provisions of MPDA, a slum goon is kept behind bars for a year.
Swargate police station and Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone II) regularly took action against Gupte and was arrested on several occasions. Gupte was also externed from the limits of Pune city and district for two years. Despite this action, he continued his illegal activities forcing police to book him under MPDA Act.
