Silvio Berlusconi reads, speaks, does phone calls, receives people after open-heart surgery held on June 14, RIA Novosti reported quoting one of the closest associates of the ex-prime minister Gianni Letta.

Former Secretary of the Council of Ministers of Italy, who visited Berlusconi in Milan Hospital San Raffaele on Wednesday, even said that he started walking.

The doctors are satisfied with his condition, but they should not abuse his time and energy.

In turn, the personal physician of Berlusconi, head of the Intensive Care of San Raffaele Alberto Zangrillo issued a brief report on the condition of his patient, noting that the postoperative period passes positively according to expectations. Nevertheless, the doctor decided to limit access to the ex-prime minister, pointing out that only the children and some of the closest associates could visit him.

Berlusconi was hospitalized on June 7, a few days before he had a heart attack triggered by stress.

A surgery on replacement of the aortal valve of Berlusconi was made in San Raffaele hospital on June 14, it lasted about four hours. The famous cardiac surgeon Ottavio Alfieri who performed the surgery initially declared that  the rehabilitation period which will last about two weeks should begin in five-six days. Thus, it is possible to expect that in the first decade of July Berlusconi will be discharged from hospital.

Now local mass media are actively discussing prospects of return of Berlusconi to policy.  According to Corriere della Sera newspaper, the former prime minister is not going to abandon politics although his children also insist on it.
